Stone Sculpture

[stone carving]
"Japanese Lantern, Kotoji style" cream limestone;
52" tall, 2002, private commission
A Kotoji lantern has twin legs that resemble the tuning forks of a Japanese musical instrument, the Koto. Usually one leg is placed in the water and one in the surrounding ground, contrasting the differences between land and water.
